🌴 Double Birthday Escape to Akumal

What started out as a triple birthday celebration turned into a double—Lucy’s sister couldn’t make it—but we still had plenty to celebrate. All three siblings have birthdays within a two-week window, so this trip was all about Lucy and her brother… four of us total, ready to roll.

✈️ Getting There

They flew into DFW the day before, and we kicked things off with a stay at the Grand Hyatt DFW—always a great way to start a trip.

The next morning, I mentally prepared for the usual TSA chaos… only to find a five-minute security line. Total win. From there, we hit the Admirals Club for a quick refresh before heading south on a smooth 2.5-hour flight into Cancun.

We booked round-trip transportation with Kalido, and it couldn’t have been easier—flawless service both ways for the 75-minute ride to the resort.

🍹 First All-Inclusive Experience

This trip was extra special because Lucy’s brother and his girlfriend had been to Cozumel before (Airbnbs), but this was their first all-inclusive experience.

Let’s just say… the bar is now officially raised.

🏨 Room Upgrade Win

We originally booked swim-out rooms, but thanks to UVC, we got upgraded to Preferred Club rooms in Building 4.

Here’s the kicker—we were assigned the exact same room we had last August, which we absolutely loved. Turns out management did that intentionally.

Score again.

Even better, the Preferred Club lounge was just two doors down, which came with plenty of perks throughout the week.

☀️ Resort Life

Most of our days were exactly how you want a vacation to be—
pool, beach, sunshine, and perfect weather every single day.

Evenings were just as great:

Three nights of poolside buffet dinners with live entertainment
Several nights dining at the resort restaurants:
- Seaside
- Oceana
- Chinese
- Portofino

We did take a day trip to Tulum, but honestly, we all agreed—we enjoyed the resort more than the excursion. That said, a stop at the farmacia made it worthwhile 😄
