A NEW Guinness Record!

Image
Got to ask.  WTF is it about the Guinness BS all the time?  I see it here and there, everywhere.  Most people don't give a rats ass, period.  They even say it.  Hell, most solid / hardcore riders, don't even participate riding in large groups with folks they've never ridden with.  And these Guinness rides aren't rides. They just putt around the corner for 4 miles (there is a minimum) at a slow speed, and actually called a 'parade.'.  Except, they aren't a parade.  There isn't some group of folks on the sidelines in the stands waving you on.  You aren't going down city blocks with folks hanging off the balconies.  Usually a route that 'works' logistically is chosen, folks are lined up, set up with minimal spacing, slow speeds, counted, then brought back to the same location (usually, but not required).  Then, you submit all the BS paperwork to Guinness, and after all the high dollar fees paid .. folks get to apply for a certificate t...

The 20/80 Rule : Part III

Image
Been a couple of years since I touched on this 'subject'  Back in Feb of '18 to be exact: The 20/80 Rule : Part II  Over the last thirty days or so, found myself on an intersting topic after doing a Motorcycle trip on a cruise ship.  I cover a lot of that here:   R&R Cruise with Motorcycles in the Caribbean I'm reminded of my 20/80 rule that applies to so many things in life.  Here's my spin on it.  On the web, whether it be social media (ex FB, Twitter, etc), Forums (yes, they still exist!), or sites like TripAdvisor, Yelp and google reviews .. you can give an entity a thumbs up or thumbs down. You can give a numbered rating.  You can give a full blown review if you take the time.  Yet, most people don't. Well, some of us do.  I've done a LOT on Tripadvisor.  I've done a lot of FB.  Hell, whenever I experience something great or .. .shitty .. I tend to put it out there.  However, most don't.  Fact! Let me give an...

The 20/80 Rule : Part II

Image
Was thinking about things along this line as a I always do .. and .. my fingers found the keyboard.  It's raining outside, the metal roof is singing to me, the wife is still in bed.. .so .. here I sit typing.   Got to thinking .. 'wait .. haven't I already blogged on this subject?' .. Well .. yes I did .. Almost seven years ago!  The 20/80 Rule ( part I ) But I was thinking about it in a more specific instance....   how .. the vast majority .. just don't .. care Pick your topic ...  the 20/80 (Pareto Principle) applies . The Pareto Principle claims that only a "vital few" peapods produce the majority of peas. Few years ago, I really got into Motorcycle Forums on the 'net.  Each of these forums have thousands and thousands of members.  Yet, only a small percentage of folks actively visit and read the forums.  Of that group, only a small percentage post and/or comment..... 20%? Facebook. .. I know .. I know.. but ... ...

My Charity Questions...

Image
I know .. I know.. this stuff for a few is getting old.   For others, it's new breaking ground.  And if you're the Secretary of the Charity giving off the feeling to many that you're hiding something .. you tell everyone that I am.... what was the word .. oh yeah ....'obsessive' .  No I'm not;  My belief is I'm  blowing the whistle here.  If I'm barking up the wrong tree, someone out there please provide the facts so we can all just move on? My concerns historically are that folks were being told incorrectly they could do tax write-offs, by simply saying the funds went to Welch Charities.   Then, my concerns were that people were overpaying for an annual event and not questioning anything, because ... it went to a charity.  Third, having never been involved with a charity and previously only giving to large well known ones .. I was questioning the fuzzy math being used to brag about money raised.   Last, I questioned why taxe...

"Cheap Bikers"

Image
This came to my attention this morning.....   about 4 or 5 months old in a weak attempt at a 'blog' out there... "You know whats funny?  Are people who have money and bitch and moan about $235 when it includes all your food, shirt, motorcycle giveaways, exclusive stuff.   you know...  "VALUE" What amazes more is when they can't let things go and their own blog can't stop writing about someone who will always be more sucessful at anything they do."  _______________________ Well, it was never about the money.   It was about the actual value.  It was about options.  I stated this over.. and over.. an over.... the last several years.   I do know people, LOTS of people, that felt that same way. And, that it wasn't a good value.  Was too much money.   But apparently, I was the only one that complained.  Now that's funny right there.  Turns out lots of people complained and it fell on deaf ears Can't le...

Turn the page .. next chapter

Image
Man, what a crazy mess that all was.. .....  well, still is for those still dealing with it in a court of law. Few years ago, I started getting tired of the BS ..  so I began pulling back, only to get sucked back in ( added back into groups, etc).  But mentally .. I was slowly pulling back.   Began questioning things in their current state, wondering how I got pulled in initially.  Spent too much time thinking it all over.....  Good news is most of that is in the rear view mirror.  Have to admit, never saw the current state of affairs occurring.   I remember when I made the decision to draw the line and the knee jerk reaction that occurred, and the blame game began .  To avert blame, I was now part of some rhetorical MC, so I embraced it and ran with with it.   The more I embraced it, the more clearly I saw things.  Soon, a small herd of followers and/or haters ( depending on your side of the line) emerged an...
