Back around 1995 installed with a couple of buddies a 24' round above ground pool during the summer heat. Then I built a 20'x24' deck by myself after work hours, in that heat. We enjoyed that for eight years, but twenty years ago we ripped it down and put in our main pool. Since then, we've replaced a couple of pump motors, a filter housing but that's about it. I'd heard that after ten years or so, we'd have to redo the plaster. But, here we are twenty years later and just now replacing the plaster. Hell, we could have gone a few more years but visually I was ready with the stains on the plaster. Friends of ours just had some repairs done and new plaster so I leveraged their contacts and got a quote. Around 19Jan got my quote, seemed reasonable so moved forward. Few weeks later gave them the first half and they showed up to drain it and start the process. Few days later they were sanding the sides giving the original plaster a surface to bite, and then chipped away the plaster near the top tiles to allow them to 'feather' the new plaster in. Few days later, they were spraying in the new plaster, next day power washing it, next day ....filling the pool. This went quick! Approximately one month from making the decision it's done. All the work was done in a two week period.

Originally we had the standard white plaster, no dye colorings. This time we went with a tan colored pebble tech which gives it a classy look IMHO. Additionally, I've seen one out there like it before so you know I had to do it. Noticed a few leaks on the the pump lines so they are giving me a quote to fix that to include the sinking pad it's on. After that, it'll be 'like new' and good for another twenty years!
