Make the damned reservations!

Pet Peeve of mine.  Well, at least when it affects me in a roundabout way.    Event XX is just announced and it's say, 5 months out.   You know the location, the dates, the venue.   What do I do?  I immediately get a hold of the hotel and lock in my reservations!   Now, one also needs to understand stipulations for canceling.  Can you cancel up to the day... two or three days out.. weeks out with/without a penalty?   Me, I make my reservation, create a reminder that pops up days BEFORE the cancellation penalty, and move on.  Done.  My personality is such that I tell everyone else I know personally involved in the event about the options and .. move on.  But nooooooooooo...   weeks...  months later..  the subject comes up and your friends or acquaintances say " crap .. we can't go"    Why not I ask?  " there are no more rooms available " or "no more tickets available" .   But , I told you way back I say in a held back manner.  Then all the excuses

Tri-State in the Springs was a success!

Back in September of '18 Rob Gregory announced a world record attempt.  I blogged about it here: The Gregory 651 (500+) World Record Parade     Problem was, at least from an Iron Indian Rider perspective, it was tied into a annual event  that was originally an IIRA event that myself and a few dozen others had attended.   Due to issues that went down five years ago, it's promoted as an open to all event, but more of an IOA event behind the scenes.  In other words, not one that many/most IIRA members attend except for a few that belong to both organizations.  So, the problem became if we (IIRA) were going to attend and be a major piece of the world record event, we needed something 'different.'  So soon after, myself and Donnie Donihue began putting a plan together to get the Iron Indian Riders Association on board.   We envisioned this could be difficult due to the previous issues with other folks that would be attending.  I made a decision to 'play n

It's been over a year now since this came up.  Someone had sent me a video from the Annual Hot Springs Rally where Rob Gregory announced he was going for it.  I don't know if he came up with the idea himself or if local riders prompted it, but he stood up in front of God and all, and announced it .. that he was going to Krush it; that they would actually get 500 unlike the previous two tries.   In the first seconds I heard it I thought to myself  " here we go again" and wasn't on board .. but ...  after thinking it over for a short while, I took a deep breath and decided I was in.   A quick call to Rob got me assurances this was for ALL Indian Motorcycle Riders and not slanted towards any specific association or group. I decided right there and then, I was all in and would do everything I could via some Social Media outlets I have some pull on and the Texas Indian Biker website to support him.  My first blog on the subject was back in mid September of last year.
