Mexico on a Budget....

Image
2004 Cruise  I've been going to Mexico as a vacationing tourista' for about 14 years now.   It began with a cruise ship that dropped us off for a day in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel over a period of two days.   I experienced the beaches, the view and the attitude and I was hooked.  The following year, I won a contest at work and got a trip for 3 to an All Inclusive (AI) in Playa Del Carmen ( Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal ) and after that , I was completely hooked.   Since then we've gone at least once a year to the area.  One year we went FIVE times.  As I was looking up cheap flights via Fun Country ( I don't think it exists anymore), my wife was begging me "no more this year!"  Okay.  Maybe I'd gotten carried away.  But I was looking at $99 round trip flights; can you blame me?   Our First AI trip to the Quetzal/Tucan About six years ago I found myself down there under different pretenses.  I'd become acquainted with an individual that wou

The 116 Big Bore B'day Present

Krome's maiden voyage with 116" Apparently 111 cubic inches ain't enough.  I remember when the new motors came out in 2013.  Indian had just one upped HD's CVO 110" motors.   Indian fans everywhere were ecstatic and talking shit. I was soon on a new bike after demo'ing them in Aug of '13 after Sturgis.   My takeaway; it was pure smooth torque.  Pull on the throttle and she'd continue to accelerate, even up hills, with no downshifting.  Nothing mind numbing, but solid and put a smile on your face.  Now, you could get bigger aftermarket S&S motors in bikes.  You could get a big bore kit to bump up your HD.  Hell, the Thunderstroke motor was smaller than Yamaha's air cooled V-Twin (113ci).  But in the Indian / HD war, it was now the King of size. But like everything, it's never enough. Lloydz was leading the pack with a few teasers out there.   You'd see a pic of a 111 with a Supercharger on it.  A Turbo on it.  You'd hear rumo

Facebook Handicapped

More Users are confused than want to admit Over the last few years .. I've touched on this subject.  To be honest, I never cease to be amazed at the lack of FB knowledge the average person has.   The basic concepts I've covered here in the past:  Social Media vs Web based Blogs and Pages .  People sharing posts that no one else can read, I've posted here. ATTACHMENT UNAVAILABLE .  Thankfully, FB gives warnings nowadays to minimize this .. .. but.. people sometimes still do it.  Unrelated, I remember an incident over two years ago where I gave an acquaintance advice on how better to utilize FB via 'lists', and then the clown claimed publicly how how I was sneaking around and circumventing folks secretly.  I made a mistake on that one, because .. I just armed them with that knowledge to use themself (and they do)?  All this shit can make your head hurt. Here is what prompted this post.  The last year, I've seen multiple people create new Profile pages.

In Search of Better Health: Part II

Image
Last month after I got back from Mexico I started....  the diet.   I wrote about it in the first part:  In search of better health Part I  With Thanksgiving quickly approaching I have to admit, I was a notch nervous.  However, the day before Turkey day I was down another pound. That day, had some seafood and drinks.  Overall, fell good!  On the scale .. down a pound!  Mama cooked a "Keto Turkey day meal" which was actually pretty good.  I picked up some freshly baked Turkey at the local Deli, she made the cranberry sauce, Deviled eggs and a killer pumpkin desert.   Even had some Seafood and alcohol on Thursday.   Overall, feel good!   Post turkey day, I feel great. The scale down here shows me down in weight overall, but waiting for scale at home for the reality check.  Friday is an awesome day... got some crawfish and shrimp at the Huli Huli Hut... throw back a few Ultras...  Then, I'm all in with some Texas Redfish and sip some Jack Daniels on the rocks,

Writing this blog post reminds me of a. Tim McGraw song....  still a fav of mine "My Next Thirty Years" I think I’ll take a moment, celebrate my age The ending of an era and the turning of a page Now it’s time to focus in on where I go from here Lord have mercy on my next thirty years Hey my next thirty years I’m gonna have some fun Try to forget about all the crazy things I’ve done Maybe now I’ve conquered all my adolescent fears And I’ll do it better in my next thirty years My next thirty years I’m gonna settle all the scores Cry a little less, laugh a little more Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear Figure out just what I’m doing here In my next thirty years Oh my next thirty years, I’m gonna watch my weight Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers Maybe I’ll remember my next thirty years My next thirty years will be the best years of my life Raise a little family and hang out

In search of Better Health : Part 1

For the hundredth time, I'm touching on this subject. Back to watching my weight.... slowly getting back into the gym.  Seems every-time I go down this path...   an injury pops up.  I always say 'when it happens again .....  I'll stay focused and work around it" .. but .. I don't.   So, what's different this time? For the first time... I"m going to take a proactive stance with taking care of my back.  I've been hitting the inversion table daily.  I'm setting up a twice a month maintenance program with my chiropractor.  My back has haunted me for over 30 years with an injury that will put me down .. literally .. on my back ....for days at a time every few years.  Has sometimes taken up to 5 weeks to recover from. It's become arthritic and will continue to get worse as I age.  I've been attacking this problem wrong; time to refocus. I headed up to BBB late September and after that ride was going to get 'serious' about

Cozumel Dive Trip

Image
Few years back, one of my Nephews,  myself, wife and daughter took a trip to Cozumel to celebrate my Birthday.   From that day on, Paul has been hooked on the Island.  Hooked on that resort.  And, discovered Scuba Diving.   Earlier this year he told me he wanted to head back for some more plunges into the ocean and invited us along.   What started as a small family trip blossomed into a full blown 8 Day vaca for Family, extended family and good friends.   Nine days ago, 17 of us hit the beach looking for a good time; we found it.   The majority of us rolled into DFW via various means and start points, for the final 2.5 hr AA flight into Cozumel.  Lucy and I, Jimbo and the Fosters car pooled it from East Texas.  Paul and his clan flew in from Mississippi ( via New Orleans).  Others hit Houston, then down via United.  Within a two hour window were were all on the ground that afternoon and just a quick bus ride away from Secrets Aura , all adult / all inclusive Resort.  In no time
