Colorado Springs on 2 wheels

Got to admit, I wanted to put a different spin on this one, on how it would all play out. Great Vaca' run to Colorado, riding in the mountains, enjoying time with close friends...   well, it sounded good anyways.   I attended a CVMA event last week, but I wanted to go up early and spend some time with a buddy of mine in Denver; didn't happen. I wanted to spend a few extra days riding around; didn't happen.  I wanted to Iron Butt it on my way up there; didn't happen.   But..... We'd just gotten back from MS last Monday . I'm dragging ass.  I'm watching the weather and it's taken the air out of my sails.  Chief has been asking me to go up a day early with him, but I'd be home less than 18 hours and...  not an option. Watching the weather, I opted out of an Iron Butt on the way up.  Wet, cold, and I'd be tired on the last portion ...  not what I call 'fun.'  I've got nothing to prove here, just have my reasons for that (CVMA...

Winter Riding : God Bless Tejas!

Last two days have been perfecto'!   Yesterday myself , Chief and Shooter did about 70+ miles.  Today myself, Chief and Rocky did 130+.  Yesterday was in the 60s.... today in the lower 70s .. nothing but sunshine and two lane roads. Yesterday was a nice route down by Tawakoni Lake.  Today we headed more north around Sulphur Springs/Commerce/Leonard, staying off major by ways. Awesome burger yesterday with colds ones and Shooters home.  Today, Chicken Fried Steak with some ice cold Shiner Bocks. Highlight of my day today ... a Patriotic couple bought our lunch for us today at Lonestar Bar n' Grill, Commerce Texas.   Thank you! LTD! Bike trip to Alexandria Louisiana JAN22

Aaaaahhhhhh.. what a weekend!   Just wrote about it here from a   >> "CVMA" perspective << .   Chief and I had a blast!  Brother Dick was supposed to make it but he's got seals on his forks leaking and his RM is in the shop, so just the two of us headed south on Friday.  We've been chatting about it all for weeks and it finally came to fruition. The weather was starting to look bad so Chief talked me into leaving a day early, thank god!   Saturday was cold AND windy ... gusts up to 50mph .. so, leaving Friday was brilliant.  Three hundred miles with sunshine and 70s; Score!  I was a dumass' and didn't map it all out ahead of time knowing it as a simple '2 lane' scoot to LA, but my GPS tried to spin me around a few times; grrrrrr.  I'm really starting to dislike it.  Need to get back to my old school way of planning routes. Mapped Let's Roll.  Look like a fool, but .. warm! Well, Friday we took off a...

TGIF Ride Day!

Chief offered to take me to lunch early in the week.. thought I was busy, then today cleared up on the schedule.  We checked the weather, looked great, so put out the ride specifics to see if anyone would join us, but no-go.  Got two nibbles by Maestro and Rocky, but at 1030 hrs was just the two of us.  Headed South to Ben Wheeler via 2 lane sweepers and within an hour we were sitting at The Forge sipping cold ones.  On the way back, took a diff' route than normal to change it up with a stop at Gilligan's for a final cold one(s).  When we left was in the low 70s, when we finished, low 80s.  Possibly one of the best rides for the whole month of December? 142 miles of TX Heaven Bam!  Perfecto ......... Chose KRUSH to ride today  Ready ! The two Amigos Been awhile since I'd been here at the Forge My Lunch ROCKED! Front n' Center!  One of my all time fav places  Headed home.... ... over Lake Tawakoni
