This is one we've been attending almost every year since 2009.  It's sort of a no-brainer for us once we bought a home on the Island, hence our attendance every year.  I remember when COVID popped up and some douche that lives downtown tried to derail it.  Once I researched him a lil' bit, became obvious he's a 'bike hater' and dislikes the bikes, the noise .. the rally.  But ...  eventually ..  he and other's got their way.  The Rally was canceled... officially.  However, many never canceled their reservations.  Many like ourselves were always headed that way for that weekend.    As it turns out the City of Galveston is expecting THOUSANDS to roll in based on Hotel Occupancy/Reservations.  They are going to shut down the Strand for us in anticipation of the crowds. However, ZERO temp permits for vendors.   So, it'll change things up no doubt, but I think in someways.. for the better?   Allows all the ...

South Padre Island. CVMA related . When I heard about this last year, I was thinking .. "ALL IN!" .  I'd never been to the South Side of Padre Island. Been to Corpus Christi a few times, and drove out to the north end.. but...  that was it.  I've always heard it come up as a Spring Break destination, but not much else.  Well, C VMA's 2020 Texas State meeting was announced to be here so ...  in! The host hotel is the Pearl Resort which looks good on 'paper' so .. what the hell. As we get closer to the actual date, I'm forced to make a decision.  Ride or Drive? I want to do the ride vs trailer the bike down, but I'm a notch concerned about weather.  I don't mind a lil' rain, but we've been dealing with hurricanes and as luck would have it, Hurricane Delta is in the gulf the same time frame.  However, our plans to ride look to be viable so ... game on   I've been planning this for awhile and had it all put together, posting about it...

Historically, I'm not a big one for birthdays.  But I will admit, my 50th was pretty awesome when a dozen of us headed to Galveston for a 3 day weekend.  So with the Big Sixty in the forecast, and mama asking me what I wanted to do ... and motorcycles weren't part of the equation for her... the decision was simple.  Mexico! We decided this almost a year ago.  Immediately a few close friends committed out the gate. Michael H. booked within days!  Next big decision was 'where' specifically.  Mama wanted Cozumel, I wanted Playa Del Carmen.  My birthday, I win.   Then she wanted Secrets Maroma Beach, I wanted Iberostar Grand.  My birthday, I win.  Now, the invite list.  The tough part.  I considered putting it out there to pretty much all my close and good friends.. .. but.. .this sometimes creates a level of chaos when it comes to spending time with everyone.  Dinner reservations.  Lunch .... breakfast, you name it....
