Galveston 2019

Few more weeks to go and I'm already scheming for '19! Mardi Gras, Rallies, Shows, annual events....   Trying to wrap my ahead around it all and get it on my calendar...   Then sneak in some Deep Sea Fishing and some overnight Scuba trips as well! First out the gate is a fav' of mine!   Been to this chili tasting multiple times.... I always leave completely stuffed!   But, a nice problem to have! Attended this multiple times....   Restaurants kick it up! What got my attention today and got me to thinking about '19 and this blog post, is saw this Bike/Car Show flyer.  Yep.. has my attention!  Mardi Gras!  I've been making this one for the last several years.  It ain't New Orleans, but it ALWAYS an awesome time between all the celebrations and hanging out at the Beach House I still haven't been to the crab festival.  I can hear it calling my name this year! Looks doable on the sched!

Mexico with no Budget

Few weeks back, we returned from Cozumel.   We were soon planning a Scuba 'budget' trip for January with a dozen plus folks rolling in, 1/2 whom will be in the water. Mama is getting the itch to go back already. Hell I am as well.  So she starts looking at some dirt cheap options ...   AIs and AirBNB.   But, I've been busting my ass all year and told her we should cut loose and do some celebrating.  It's only going to be the two of us, so we don't have to run the options by anyone.   We both soon realize this is the FIRST trip we've taken to Mexico, ever by ourselves.   So, I do some searching on Trip Advisor and another SECRETS Resort pops up that looks promising.  VERY promising.  We go over it all, and decide to jump in with both feet and give it a shot.  We wouldn't be disappointed. Up to this point, we've been mainly visiting Iberostar, Barcelo, Riu and Secrets properties over the last 13 years.  "We're creatures of habit" is true

Reverse Training

I think this is going to work out (pun intended) ..... finally. The Home Gym Historically ...   during my teens and entire adult life, I've been 'pro weights' and adverse to aerobic training.   Always.  My personal reasons were I was more concerned with building muscle than burning it off accidentally. Simple as that.   But as I've gotten older, wiser, more aware of ... ummmm...   issues .. as we get older, I've changed it up. Watching something like Crossifit Games has given me an appreciation for carrying adequate muscle yet being in killer all around shape.  Watching these men and women competing, and carrying adequate muscle mass, has changed my thinking.   Now, I have no plans at this point of 'going down this path", but it reinforces that you can embrace aerobic fitness without withering away. For me, at this point I've taken a different tact, due to my back issues.  First, every work out I focus Add caption on my spine... my bac

New Rider : First Motorcycle

Image
Seems like every week you see someone jump on a Forum or Social Media outlet (ex. FB Group) and ask opinions on whether this or that, is a good "first bike."  The ensuing opinions range from "get a small used metric bike" to " get a big bike!"  Ridiculous. Bike Rides gone Bad Anyone with common sense knows, you should get a bike that size wise one can handle, learn to ride, practice .. practice .. practice.. and improve one's skill set.   In a perfect world, we'd ride that for a time period ..   whether that be for a few months... a riding season .. maybe even a few years depending on how many miles one rides.  Then upgrade to the 'next level'.   That level might be a mid size or light weight cruiser.   Then, and only then, after feeling comfortable and becoming a solid rider, consider getting that "bike of one's dreams".  Of course, maybe that first or second bike was?  I mean in reality, egos usually come into play a
