Key West

Bucket List items… I don’t really have a lot of them.   Yellowstone and some other National Parks are on it.  Riding down Pacific Coast Highway on a motorcycle is one.  A run in the fall up to the Northeast and gorge on Lobster and see the changing of the leaves, is another.  Finally, Big Bend State Park in SW Texas in on it for a motorcycle trip.  There was one other…. Key West.   For some reason, it’s called my name for years.   It’s north of Cuba approximately 90 miles.   Similar Latitude as the Bahamas.    Also the subject of a shit load of songs and shows and movies, so guess it called my name.   We’ve been talking about it for a few years and finally made it happen.   Few years ago, we were going to do a family trip, Lossner’s and England’s, but that fell through.   Then about 6 or 8 months ago, we were scheming with the Kennedy’s to do it, but that fell through.   We locked into a May trip for our Anniversary and Pablo and Beth were going to join us, but that fell through.   W

Dental Pain .. disbelief

We've all gone through most of it one time or another.   Besides cavities, there's the 'real' stuff.  Root Canal (can sometimes REALLY suck), Crowns (expensive!), bridges (never dealt with), and tooth extraction (crap). Yesterday was a busy one for me. Spent 3.5 hours in the chair yesterday ...   was joking with them that they should just knock me out and wake me when it was all over, but no go.  I'm been getting a new crown(s) after some came off, and I procrastinated getting them immediately put back on... lesson learned in there.  If traveling, take it to a local dentist and ask them to put it back on professionally, immediately. Anyways, yesterday was a big one.  They finished putting a crown porcelain back on after losing one last year.  Then, they had to remove a crown from about 20 years ago due to some infection around it.  Then, the finale.  A crown had popped off next to the installed crown, but the tooth was cracked, needed a root canal last year but then

Last Man Standing....

Okay ... this one is out of left field, but on my mind..... About 24 years ago, I had someone I worked for attempt to throw me to the wolves.  It caught me off guard at the time, being in the military for 20 years prior to that and for the most part,  we all had each other backs.   When I caught wind about it all I went into action mode and survived it.  When the smoke cleared, came out of it good financially and was soon off  working for a different company, a great company, for the next five years.... I have that Narcissistic POS to thank for it. Then on a different note, that company I would work for those next five years?  I didn't take the job at first.  I actually turned it down 24 hrs before I was supposed to show up.  Then came back to them a week later with something like " I screwed up ... is the job still open?"   Well, I got my balls busted, but got the job and when I left ... I was the last man standing in our group out of all when I'd started, often cat

Steel Horse Rally (SHR) 2023

Got a double in this year.  Been going since 2019, so our forth time.  The CVMA's 7-3 Chapter was having their second sanctioned event at the same time... so ... score! Had a great time last year, so making plans this time around was a no brainer.  Few weeks' after last years, I made hotel reservations.  I made them at the Wyndham AND the Marriott, next door to each other.  We historically stayed at the Wyndham (previously a Hilton DoubleTree), but I'm also a Marriott member so made a decision to hedge my bets and made both.  When the smoke cleared, the majority of us stayed at the Marriott, but the Kennedys' were late to the game making plans, and took my Wyndham reservation.   The rally officially starts at Friday at noon, but we chose to head up a day early.  So Boudreaux and Nance jumped on their trike and I mounted Krush for the ride.  Lucy would cage up in "Hot Rod" the following day.  Coming in from Hot Springs was Double D and Stump.  Down from Roger
