Two Hyatt Cancun Resorts That UVC Members Shouldn't Overlook

Every once in a while, I run across an article that makes me stop and take another look at resorts that may have been sitting right under my nose.

This time it was an article from The Cancun Sun naming two Cancun all-inclusive resorts that consistently deliver:

Hyatt Ziva Cancun
and
Hyatt Zilara Cancun

What really caught my attention?

These aren't just Hyatt-affiliated resorts. They're HYATT properties.

And for those of us who are also Unlimited Vacation Club (UVC) members, there is another potentially significant advantage:

We can leverage our UVC membership at these properties as well.

That's a pretty big bonus.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun – The Family Option

First up is Hyatt Ziva Cancun.

I've seen this property plenty of times over the years, but perhaps haven't given it enough consideration.

The location alone is pretty spectacular.

Ziva sits on a peninsula at Punta Cancun with the Caribbean surrounding the resort on three sides. One side offers calmer, more swimmable water, while the other provides the bigger Caribbean waves and expansive ocean views.

That alone separates it from a lot of Cancun resorts.

But there's something else here that I really like.

Turquoize

Although Hyatt Ziva is a family-friendly resort, there is an adults-only section called Turquoize.

This isn't simply an adults-only pool stuck in the corner of a family resort.

Turquoize is an exclusive adults-only tower within the property, offering perks including VIP check-in, butler service and access to its own rooftop infinity pool.

So you essentially get:

A family-friendly Hyatt resort when traveling with kids or grandkids...

while couples can choose a much more upscale adults-only experience inside the same property.

That's a really interesting combination.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun – Adults Only

Now we're getting closer to our normal vacation style.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun is adults only.

It's located right in the heart of Cancun's Hotel Zone, putting you close to shopping, entertainment and nightlife while still providing the adults-only beachfront resort experience.

And this isn't the old Zilara many travelers may remember.

The property recently underwent a massive 13-month renovation.

We're talking substantially redesigned oceanfront suites, updated venues and even additions such as the Bokeh speakeasy.

Basically, Hyatt didn't just slap on some new paint and call it renovated.

They substantially reinvented the resort.

That definitely gets my attention.

The Hyatt Factor

This may actually be the biggest reason I'm taking another look at both properties.

We've spent a lot of time at Secrets, Impression and other Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts, but sometimes it's easy to forget just how large Hyatt's all-inclusive footprint has become.

Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara bring something slightly different to the table.

They're Hyatt-branded resorts, and they're also integrated into the World of Hyatt ecosystem.

That means eligible stays can potentially provide the opportunity to earn or redeem World of Hyatt points, depending upon how the reservation is booked.

For someone who already plays the hotel points game, that's important.

But for us there's another layer.

And Then There's UVC...

This is where things become particularly interesting for Unlimited Vacation Club members.

As UVC members, we're accustomed to looking first at:

Secrets
Impression by Secrets
Dreams
Breathless
Zoëtry
and the other resorts available through the club.

But Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara can also be leveraged through the UVC membership.

That's something I think many UVC members overlook.

And considering what these properties can cost at retail rates, that can potentially be a HUGE benefit.

The article I was reading noted that rates at these two resorts can run roughly $600 per night during shoulder season and climb beyond $1,000 per night during peak winter periods.

Do the math on a seven-night vacation.

At $600 a night:

$4,200

At $1,000 a night:

$7,000

And potentially even more depending upon the room category and dates.

Suddenly being able to leverage a UVC membership becomes very interesting.

One Membership – More Options

This is one of the things I've grown to appreciate more about our UVC membership.

Originally, I looked at the membership primarily through the lens of the resorts we were already visiting.

Secrets.

Preferred Club.

Impression.

Our Premier Nights, VIP Weeks and Unlimited Vacation opportunities.

But as Hyatt has continued expanding its all-inclusive portfolio, I'm realizing that the ecosystem available to us is considerably larger than I initially gave it credit for.

Ziva gives us a quality Hyatt option when traveling with families.

Zilara gives us an adults-only Hyatt option when it's just the two of us.

And our UVC membership potentially gives us another avenue for accessing both.

That's a pretty nice combination.

Ziva vs. Zilara – Which Would I Choose?

For us personally?

🥇 Hyatt Zilara Cancun

No surprise there.

Lucy and I generally prefer adults-only resorts, so Zilara fits our normal travel style much better.

The fact that it has just undergone such a substantial renovation makes it even more interesting.

But...

🥈 Hyatt Ziva Cancun – Turquoize

This one surprised me.

If we're going to stay at a family resort without kids, Turquoize would absolutely be the way I'd do it.

Adults-only tower.

Butler service.

VIP check-in.

Private rooftop infinity pool.

Plus the ability to enjoy everything offered by the larger Ziva property.

That's a compelling setup.

And if we were traveling with family, Ziva would probably move into the #1 position immediately.

The Bottom Line

Neither of these resorts is trying to compete as a bargain Cancun all-inclusive.

That's not the market they're chasing.

They're premium Hyatt resorts in prime Cancun locations, with Ziva catering primarily to families and Zilara providing the adults-only alternative.

The original article described both properties as maintaining extremely strong guest satisfaction, including a reported 9.4/10 average across thousands of reviews on major booking platforms.

But from my perspective, there's another reason they're worth putting on the radar:

HYATT + WORLD OF HYATT + UVC

That's an interesting combination.

If you're already a UVC member, don't automatically limit your searches to Secrets, Dreams, Breathless and Impression.

Take a look at Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara too.

Depending upon your membership, dates and available rates, there may be considerably more value sitting inside that UVC membership than you realized.

I know I'm going to start paying a little more attention to both.

Especially that newly renovated Zilara...

That one may have just found its way onto the list. 😎
