HYDRATE!
You'd think I'd learn my lesson. The last six years or so, Hydration .. or lack of it .. has caused me numerous problems. Not sure what exactly has changed other than getting older, but damned the heat kicks my ass.
About a week ago, was doing an Iron Butt to Georgia on Krimson ('22 Challenger) and at the 1/2 point on I-10 in MS, I hit the wall. I'd drank a few waters. Put some ice over my head and down around my neck. But the temps were rising into the mid 90s, I had a full face on and ... simply hit the wall. I was leading the ride, pulled over to a Gas Station and was worried I was going to have to throw in the towel since I felt light headed, naseous and almost dizzy. Melissa mixed me up a couple of "Liquid IV's" and began to feel a notch better. I parked the full face and put on my half helmet and after forty minutes total headed out, feeling a notch nervous. Ten minutes later, I snapped out of it all and we were hauling ass again as if nothing had happened. Temps climbed to 99 and humid... but... I was fine now. Hell .. great. We'd pull into Athens GA after over 1k miles, crazy heat and .... I'm in disbelief how that all went.I decided then and there, I've got to figure out this hydrate crap ... and do it right. On the way home I slammed a shit of of hydrate type drinks near the Gatorades on the shelves and felt great the whole way home. Now, I'm researching mixes like WATERBOY to get ahead off all this when on the bike. When on Vacation. When out playing hard.
