Huatulco is on my radar : Booked for 2026!

SECRETS .. here we come! Been considering this for months now after seeing that a friend of ours had visitied.  As part of our UVC membership, this is a 1:1 so we can use our Premiere Nights for the week there; basically at no cost.  Snag'd some AA flights and ... on the calendar for early next year.

🇲🇽 La Crucecita, Huatulco: Pros & Cons for Travelers

Pros

1. Safe, Walkable Small Town

  • Very low crime compared to many Mexican tourist regions.

  • You can comfortably walk around the zócalo, shops, cafés, and restaurants.

2. Authentic Local Vibe

  • Not overly built up like Cancun or Vallarta.

  • Real Oaxacan culture, friendly locals, slower pace.

3. Beautiful Beaches Nearby

  • Crucecita isn’t on the beach itself, but 5–10 minutes gets you to Chahué, Santa Cruz, La Entrega, Maguey, etc.

4. Affordable

  • Food, drinks, taxis, and souvenirs are cheaper than big resort cities.

  • Outstanding value for quality.

5. Excellent Oaxacan Cuisine

  • Mole, tlayudas, mezcal, chocolate, seafood — cheap and GOOD.

⚠️ Cons

1. Not on the Beach

  • You’ll need a taxi (usually $40–70 MXN) or a quick drive from resorts.

  • Some tourists expect a beachfront town — it's not.

2. Nightlife is Chill

  • Don’t expect clubs. Bars close earlier and it’s more relaxed.

3. Limited Shopping Variety

  • Great handmade items but no big shopping malls or upscale boutiques.

4. Hot & Humid

  • It gets very warm, especially May–September. AC is your friend.
