San Diego ... . finally

First time we've been back in a year. Got back from Mexico, then few days later loaded back up on American and headed West. Can't believe we've waited this long. We've been all over the map, our daughter has been a notch busy .. .but now.... we're headed to see our baby girl.

Quick 3 hr flight and we've landed at SAN. Grab a rental car and 33 min later, pulling up at our Airbnb. Chose to do this for a couple of reasons. First, I MUST have a King Bed; her spare bedroom has a queen. Secondly, when possible I always opt for a Hotel /Airbnb when visiting folks so every gets a lil space. Guess there will come a time when that's not in the budget, but it is for now. Get settled into a new space for five days and head over to see our girl. She's got the N'Laws coming over for a Pizza Party which is awesome. About a dozen of us total, sipping beer, throwing darts, catching up, creating memories. Then .. off to our weekend paradise location.

Next Day we spend with her and and hubby at the pool (Airbnb), then a great Mexican Dinner downtown. Played some Cribbage afterwards which was awkward initially since it'd been over a decade since most of us had played. By the second game, back in my groove! Used to play with that my parents and sis all the time..... maybe this is our new family game moving forward? Head back to the B' and ... sip some wine looking at the beautiful skyline.

Another day at the pool, getting our money out of it? Off to the N'Laws for some of Mark's great cooking. Love these hills in La Mesa (suburb of San Diego). Narrow roads up to the top of each hilltop with Million Dollar homes the whole way up at ever corner. The problems/issues of California seem a distant thought when here and my daughters home. I love the views... the attitudes ... the weather. I get it. I could never go back due to the politics and high prices and now the homelessness in the cities .. but ... I do love to visit. Jess and Corbin head home at a normal time but it'll be after 1 AM before we stroll in. We've been planning a trip to Cali in July for ride up the Coast from San Diego to the northern tip of Cali and .... back. I'm really hoping to actually do this....

Sunday ..another pool day and dinner at my daughters. Cribbage board comes back out and everyone has shaken off the cobwebs and have a nice time playing cards. Still, it's a work night for them .. and ... we're back at the B'. We're both beat and pull the plug early. The next morning we'll drop off extra groceries we had, final goodbyes and... back into San Diego to head back.

Man .. next trip, may have to stay downtown. Looks like a blast. Or maybe Coronado Beach. But the B' was literally ONE mile from the N'Laws home. Five miles from our daughters.... what to do .. what to do.

Ninety days or so ..we'll find out. I'm not waiting another year :)
