When we roll up, always feels like our home away from home. Can't believe it'd been over a year since we'd stayed here ...... two years to be exact.
Few months ago I was in a boys room (TMI) and I get a text from Darla. "Secrets Coz this Nov??" . Quick check of my calendar, looks clear. When I get back to the table I run it by Lucy, I get a nod and by the time we leave that night to head home, trip is locked in the books. Cool part of this one is I booked Air and Resort ALL with AA mileage points; BAM! First class seats, top of the line rooms on the beach...... gotta' love points.
Well, Thursday is here, up way too early, pick up the Fosters and we're rolling. Park in the 2 hr area with Lucy's handicap placard, my MSM plates make sure there is zero cost , and we walk a few feet into Terminal D at DFW. Soon past TSA, onto the SkyLink and find an Admirals Club. Vaca' has begun! Few hours go by, onto the plane and ... 2.5 hrs. later we're in the line at Customs, pop out the front of the terminal, grab cab for $35 to our Resort ....and... we're soon sipping drinks in the preferred club waiting for our room assignments. We'd find ourselves in building 100 this time, Fosters in 900. Both are beach front and our fav' locations. Quick unpack and ... headed to the pool. Its mid 80s out and sunshine, pool is an awesome 88 degrees. Perfection.
Steve is prepped for 3 days of diving, we plan on staying on the resort the whole trip so everyday will revolve around breakfast on the back patio facing the ocean, lunch by the pool, finding a new location for dinner every night. We always meander over the swing bar, the skybar, windows lobby bar, and the preferred club room/bar. We'll luck out with weather for them most since Hurricanes Rafael and Sara were out and about but never found their way here, minus some rain for a 24 hour period. Still, I'll take a rainy tropical day over cold temps in the US any day! Like I mentioned Steve goes out the first three mornings for some diving with Julio, and I'm with the ladies holding down the pool fort until noon. Then it's Cheladas, Dos Equis Ambar on Tap, lots of Dark Rums and Rum Punches, Champagne for Lucy ... and ... just ... a relaxed good time. This year we meandered to the back area pool a few times which was a lil quieter and met some new folks.
I swear I never tire of this place. We always say we're going to try somewhere new (AI Resort) but usually come back to this location. We've made a close friend here that has worked here for most of the last 6 or 7 trips we've done. We know the rooms and restaurants and pools. Like I said, sort of a home away from home. I know we'll be back next year. Hell, I'm scheming for a trip next month, but to a condo on the economy; a large group from MS are headed down maybe .. just maybe... we'll pull it off?
