Big Un' good for another 60k

Image
About 3 years ago I had one of my impulse moments; bought our Grand Wagoneer right after they were introduced unable to help myself.  I love the older ones from the 80s/90s.. and they were back!  Kicker is I bought it sight unseen.  Never been in one, never drove one.  Got online, put in my wish list and ...  up the street in Bonham they had one ...   paid list price, traded in our Porsche Macan on it and ... never looked back. Three Years old / 61k miles Left MS yesterday back to Tejas and after some crazy rain, the 'check engine' light was on.  Did some search on the reasons for it, and felt confident enough to head home 550 miles.  My gut feeling was correct, and no issues home except that damned light on the dash glaring back at me.  This morning, headed to the dealership and .. the light goes off.  Crap.  That's good and bad.  Good for obvious reasons bad because it's harder to diagnose the actual problem....

25 years to go ....

I've thought about this a lil in the past.  Even wrote about it here.   Back when I hit 25, was at my peak in my mind at that time. Thirty, shit felt 'real' as an adult. At 40, was a notch disappointed; thought I'd be in a diff place financially and physically.  At 50, realized I'd passed the '1/2 point' in life but was smiling.  Come 60 realized... shit was getting real.  Felt like superman right up until that point .. then my heart issue popped up (ICD in there now).  Suddenly realized I was mortal like everyone else.  This year I'll turn 65, Living The Dream (LTD), pushing forward in several areas of my life for what I've called 'The Final Push' ..   and assume I'll calm it down and relax and enjoy the roses or whatever that saying is.  But this past year .. I've been pushing hard...  Traveling a LOT ... and have a LOT planned and on my plate.  Well, few days ago ... got to doing some deep thinking and doing some soul s...

Outside my 'comfort zone '.. .. the MONSTERS OF ROCK CRUISE 2025

Rock n Roll Music……  light rock .. Classic Rock  … HEAVY Metal Rock ; variety.  Hmmmm. Back in the day (my teens), I didn’t listen to much of what I do now.  I liked Bread, Boston, Peter Frampton, Styx, Pat Benatar,  some Meat Loaf, little of this, little of that.  If it was ā€˜good’ music .. you know. . if it wasā€ top 40ā€ … generally, I liked it.  But was never that ā€˜guy.’ hard core into music.  Back in my Jr/Sr years of high school, the stoners hung outside school in the smoking areas, puffing cigarettes, and I always viewed ā€˜those guys’ as the hard-core rock guys….   Not me.  I don’t even know how to explain what I liked.  I tended to lean towards Pat Benatar, Styx, Bread, Chicago, John Mellencamp. ….. what ā€˜genre’ is that exactly?  To this day, I don’t ā€˜know’ my bands ….   Band names .. lead singers, lyrics…. I’m just not that guy.   But, the last few years, I’ve slowly been coming around.  I lov...

Old F'er benis'

Few Beni's out there, for us old F'rs. I usually ask for military discount but forget about the Senior angle. After reading and posting the below... FINALLY ... .joined AARP for yet more beni's Rob'd this from elsewhere, just for you "I was at Wendy's recently; I heard a guy ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 ...get 10% off everything on the menu, every day. (But you need to ASK for your discount.) This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start as young as 50. This list may not only be useful for you, but also friends and family, too. Dunkin Donuts gives FREE coffee to people over 55...
