Got a trip planned in the near future, so putting together a TODO list ... Cheat Sheet ... Tourista crap!
Got a 2 BDR AirBnb for 4 of us and psyched.
🌴 Top 10 Things to Do Near Duval Street by Golf Cart
1. Mallory Square Sunset Celebration
- Famous nightly festival with street performers, local artists, and amazing sunset views.
- Plenty of cart parking nearby by the waterfront.
2. Southernmost Point Buoy
- A must-see photo stop marking the southernmost point in the continental U.S.
- Go early morning for shorter lines.
3. Duval Street Cruise
- Ride the length of Duval for shopping, bars, galleries, and people-watching.
- Easy to hop on/off anywhere.
4. Hemingway Home & Museum
- Explore Ernest Hemingway’s house, writing loft, and the famous six-toed cats.
- Small onsite parking but easy to find golf-cart spots nearby.
5. Key West Lighthouse & Keeper’s Quarters
- Climb the 88 steps for panoramic Old Town views.
- Beautiful museum across from the Hemingway House.
6. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park & Beach
- Best beach on the island + historic fort.
- Golf carts can enter and park easily.
- The beach is within the state park. For a $2.50 admission fee, you can make a day out of it! In addition to the beach itself (I think the snorkeling is decent near all of the rock jetties), there's a gorgeous shaded picnic area full of pine trees. For the active people, you will find hiking trails as well as the actual fort that you can explore on your own or learn more with a guided tour.There's a snack bar onsite or you can bring your own picnic. Tip: pack a soft cooler in your luggage or bring it on as your carry-on. Here's few ideas:
Sandwiches, chips and salad from Courthouse Deli. It's right on the way on Southard Street. Little Whitehouse Subs is also not too far away on Whitehead Street.
Cheese, crackers, bread, some deli meat and other goodies from Fausto's Food Palace which is on Fleming Street.
A few slices of pizza or hoagies from Mr Z's!
7. Key West Historic Seaport (Bight Marina)
- Boardwalk filled with restaurants, bars, boats, and tarpon feeding.
- A great place for lunch or happy hour near Duval.
8. Truman Little White House
- Presidential retreat with guided tours.
- Tucked in a quiet, shady area ideal for golf-cart exploring.
9. Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory
- Walk among colorful butterflies, birds, and tropical gardens.
- Right on Duval Street.
10. Shipwreck Museum & Observation Tower
- Fun historic museum + towers with great views near Mallory Square.
- Perfect quick stop while carting around.
🚗 Tips for Golf-Cart Exploring Key West
- Park in designated golf-cart/scooter spots along Duval and Old Town.
- Avoid residential streets marked “No Parking.”
- For fewer crowds, cruise early morning or just before sunset (before Mallory Square gets busy).
- Many attractions offer short-term metered or free parking for carts.
