Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres 2025
Flew into Cancun from DFW and grabbed a Private van via a reservation I'd made through one of my club memberships. Delayed us about 25 minutes more than necessary so lesson learned in there (last time using them!). After about 50 minutes through traffic and construction, we're pulling up to the resort. Until recently, we've always gone south of Cancun so this is a lil different for us seeing different resorts and areas new to us. Once we pull in, they have our names, whisk us away into the preferred club and we're immediately checked in. I got a low cost King Suite, but with our UVC membership we have preferred club benefits starting with the checkin process. We're soon in our Limo (golf cart ) and headed to the room with our bags. We'll be in building 6 which is non preferred, but we have an awesome Conceirge (Ernesto) and a great view from the 3rd floor. Tip out the Bell man, get unpacked quickly and we're headed to the Rendvous Bar which will beome our daily go to due to its centralized location and close to our room/building. Meet some good people, great bartender, few shots of Don Julio Repasodo and decide to skip dinner. Nice relaxing night and we'll head to the room for Room Service which will set the stage for the rest of our trip. Our Room Service Waiter goes by "Taco" and is over the top. He asks us what we need and I tell him "bottle of champagne daily". This one statement has him there EVERY day at 6pm with a bottle in our room, opened and poured for us. Awesome guy.
Tuesday morning after Room Service (our daily go to for breakfast every day of the trip) head down to the preferred pool around 0930/1000 and get lucky with one of the few loungers to be had. Great service from our Pool side waiter for the day we're blessed with awesome weather as we will in the entire trip, breaking 80 deg daily. Days will be filled with lunches at the Seaside Grill or delivered poolside. After a day of rays, quick nap, then Taco buzzing the room with Chmapagne, head to dinner (diff' restaruant each night) and then few final drinks and music at the Rendevous bar.
I'm awake early so I decide to play the 'towel game' and head to the pool early. As it turns out, if one doesn't mark their territory by 0900ish, most / all are taken. We'll make friends with the Pool Concierges and they ensure every morning we have our fav' spot. I'm sure the tips have nothing to do with it .. .lol .. but, they were all great and we truly did establish some friendships. Hard to believe we've got 7 nights of this over the Chrimstas Holiday. Sitting there sipping Margaritas we decided right there and then, we were booking another similar trip for 2026.
Christmas day we'll make our way to the Jewelrry store where I sort of outdid myself. Lucy didn't expect anything but ... lets just say I might have gotten on her good side. Gifts behind us, was time to enjoy the rest of the trip. Our UVC folks were great setting us up with a Cabana for a day which was awesome on the beach. But, damned that sand was fine and deep and a bitch to walk in! Still, nice relaxing day on the beach with a reseved cabana (didn't have a towel game day), great service. Hard to beat. And we hit the spa a few times for massage for me, facial for Lucy, and daily HydroTherapy (love it!).
Still .. as always... sooner or later you gotta go home. But, what a trip! At the airport had an hour plus to kill so as always .. Air Margaritaville for a burger and adult beverages. On the way home were flying coach but in Exit Row. As it'll turn out, we were the only 2 in those six seats so ... Poor Man's First Class! Score.
Did we enjoy it? Oh Hell Yes. We are already booked for another trip to this location, this Spring. But this time, we've reserved a Swim Out room. Maybe this time, we'll get a 'free' upgrade closer to the beach. We shall see!
