Back to Secrets Playa Blanca Mujeres (Again… and Again)
From Christmas Trip to Repeat Visits
Over Christmas, we decided to spend the holidays in Mexico at Secrets Playa Blanca Mujeres. I wrote about that trip here:

We completely fell in love with the resort. So much so that almost immediately after returning to the U.S., I booked another trip for Easter—which made perfect sense at the time.
What we didn’t plan on?
Squeezing in yet another trip to Akumal to celebrate her birthday just a week before that.
But… that’s all history now 😉
Back to Mexico… After 5 Days at Home
After being home for about five days, we turned right back around and headed to Mexico again.
This time, Kalido was fully booked, so we used USA Transfers—and I’d rate them just as highly. Great drivers, newer vehicles, and seamless private transportation.
Before long, we were back at Playa Blanca, reconnecting with people we had “just seen” four months earlier:
- Ernesto (our concierge)
- Celeste and the Preferred Club team
- Malena (UVC rep)
- Several familiar servers
It was honestly surreal—like we’d never left. And by the time it was time to go again, we definitely didn’t want to.
Room Upgrade: From Ocean View to Oceanfront Swim-Out
On our first trip, we stayed in an Ocean View room in Building 6.
This time, we booked a swim-out and were upgraded—thanks to our UVC membership—to a Preferred Club oceanfront swim-out.
The room and location were outstanding.
If I had to nitpick, Building 1 might have been slightly better due to its proximity to the Preferred Club pool and lounge. But in reality, there’s not a bad room on the property—just some with better views or more convenient locations.
The swim-out itself was a highlight:
- Great sun exposure most of the day
- Easy access to the pool
- Quiet, relaxing atmosphere
Daily Routine: Relaxation Done Right
This trip was all about keeping things simple and relaxed.
Most days followed a perfect rhythm:
- Room service breakfast
- Pool and beach time (mostly pool)
- Afternoon nap (optional, but recommended)
- Clean up and head to dinner
We rotated between three of the four pools and spent time at the social pool, where we had a Bali bed (courtesy of UVC).
Evenings: Music, Shows, and Beach Experiences
Evenings were spent enjoying:
- Live music at Rendezvous Bar
- Time at the Preferred Club lounge
We skipped the theater this trip and stuck with live music, which ended up being the right choice.
One standout experience was the Mayan show and beach dinner early in the trip—definitely worth doing if you get the chance.
Final Night: Turning It Up (Just a Bit)
We met a couple from Missouri and ended up spending the last three nights hanging out with them.
They came across as the “partiers”… but when it came down to the final night, I somehow ended up being the one who turned things up.
Not sure if that qualifies as bragging rights—but being the oldest of the group, I’ll take it.
A few (okay, more than a few) tequila shots later, and somehow I still felt fine the next day. No complaints.
Already Planning the Next Trip
We’ve already booked another return trip for 2027.
And honestly… knowing us, we may end up back there even sooner.
Final Thoughts
Secrets Playa Blanca Mujeres continues to deliver:
- Consistently high service
- Familiar faces that make you feel at home
- A layout and vibe that balances relaxation and energy
It’s rare to find a place that pulls you back this quickly—but this one does.
And we’re clearly not done with it yet.
