4th at the beach .........

Another Galveston trip in the books!  Lil twist on this one though .........

God Bless America!

I never get tired of this view off the Deck

Few days before the weekend, the rule-makers of Galveston decided to do a couple things.  First, for the first time entering ALL businesses, patrons had to don' a face mask.  If you were at a restaurant, once you were seated you could take it off.  In and out of grocery stores and liquor stores, had to wear them.  No biggee ....  small price to pay in my opinion.  I may not agree with it all, but ... I didn't have to spend my money either; could have voted with my wallet.  I chose to support the restaurants and stores.

Hey ... worked!

Once we were at the Casa' pretty much normal for a few days.  We got down there a few days before the weekend so when the Farleys rolled in, we all headed down with chairs, coolers, music and shade sources.  Two days of sunshine and we pretty much had our fill.  Once we were officially into the
Small Family busted by the Lifeguard Patrol
weekend, the seawall, parking, and beaches were shutdown.  Several hours in the morning and evening were open for folks to stroll along, etc.  It was almost 100% compliance from what I could see.  Well sort of. Farley and I got busted by the PoPo' on Friday, with a wrist slap.  Few other folks didn't get the memo, left after their wrist slap.  Pretty much, quiet and calm.  Well except for Saturday night.   Fireworks down on the Island were illegal with a potential $15k fine.   Still, the sky was lit up big time with the Popo' rolling in a few times .. people stopped.. some ran ... then ...  all over again after they left the area.  Hey, at least no one was acting like the thugs in the big cities having Roman Candle battles?

Hit a few restaurants, had some great seafood, lots of margaritas and ice cold cervezas.  My kind of Independence Day Weekend celebrating this great nation. Trick was to keep the news turned off so we didn't get reminded how many fucktards are in this country.  Did I mention it was Hot n' Humid?  Damned!   But as usual, a nice breeze off the gulf kept it all in check as well as the half dozen umbrellas we had in play!

Except for the bars being closed in town, no harm no foul.  Gotta' feel for the bar owners and employees .  One of the larges weekend events on the Island .. .and ... nada, zilch.  How much longer can they last during the Wuhan Virus BS?   Well... until Next Year!
