It's the People, not the Place

Last Year, it began.  The Iron Indian Riders Association began kicking up it's momentum again.  We flipped our annual reunion from the Branson area to the Durango area.  At the same time the Gateway Indian Tribe started The Gathering .   Both were a success.

In 2017, The two events put space between their dates and the Durango Reunion just completed the Second Annual Reunion.   The Gateway tribe, teamed up with the Flatlanders Tribe, are set to take The Gathering to the next level!   But between the two, the Northwinds tribe out of MN, is putting together their version for 2017.

The week after Sturgis, they are inviting all Iron Indians to come join them in a week of riding and celebration.   They've been welcomed by the Bison Thunder Motorcycle Dealership NW of the Twin Cities so a little bit of time will be spent up there.  An overnight ride is being planned.   And a week of rides to local establishments to spend some time together after rides, is being put together.

It's all just starting to come together.  This year has been a great one for the IIRA with opportunities for IIRA members throughout the country to meet up at various events.

If you'd like to be a member of the Iron Indians,  email us at membership@ironindian.com  . Then, consider joining us in mid-August for a great week of Riding.

"Well folks tomorrow is our Birthday, that of our Country, and oddly enough that of our Family, The Iron Indian Riders Association as well. The land that I love, will be celebrating 241yrs of existence and the family that I love will be but 15yrs old. Now let me be clear on this, this Then and Now post is meant in no way to compare the two, but I cannot help but mention some of the similarities in the birth of both.
The freedom that the birth of our country brought forth, the independent way of thinking that we all share, is directly responsible for the IIRA. You see as a group we got tired of not being told the truth, we got tired of being ruled by folks that we felt did not have our best interests in heart. Just as I imagine that the original founders of our country gathered together and discussed in taverns and homes what to do about it so did we. If Philadelphia can be considered the birthplace of our Country, then the Ibocorp forum must be considered the birthplace of our family. If Washington can be named the father of our Country, then so must Whitefeather be named the father of the IIRA. Franklin becomes DirtywaterDiver because it was he who gave us a name, RkyMtnNick put it out there officially when he bought the domain IronIndian.com and gave it to us. Just as the whispers spread across the land of the intent of the Founding Fathers to create a land “For the People, By the people so did the whispers spread across the internet of the Founding Tribal Counsels idea to create a group By the Riders for the Riders.
If history tells us anything about creating a group, it’s that for it survive it must be fought for by the people, and I will say that the IIRA got lucky, the people believed in our goal and were willing to forgive our naivety at such an endeavor and weather the storms that were said to be coming.
15yrs proves that we are able to weather the storms, we outlasted two different companies, countless splinter groups whose only reason for being was a hatred for our family and most of all we have survived the passing of the torch. All families have their patriarchs those who at times have to take a back seat to the pleasures of the group to run it. It’s not an easy task, it takes a servants heart and for those that have taken up this mantel I say Thank you. I understand it is far more enjoyable to follow the ride than lead it.
Happy Birthday IIRA, yes I take a special pride from this day, not for what I was a part of in creating, but in the fact that the creation has far exceeded my expectations and abilities. So this July 4th let me say, God bless America, and God Bless the IIRA. #IIRAThenandNow " - FiremanDave
