Topless Weekend! Part II

Image
I wrote about this last year :  Topless Weekend! Said I was done, but...... I returned   Jeep Topless Day .. it's a nationwide event.  Down here, it's historically been held at Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula since it's a publicly accessible beach folks can drive on.  Last year was my first time.  I thought it was my last.  I was wrong; this year was my last. Period.  Last year, I was frustrated with the other all the SxS vehicles, trucks, etc.  I was mentally prepared for that this time, but I wasn't prepared for the oncoming chaos. My daughter flew into Houston earlier this week.  My nephew rolled in with his Jeep.  His GF/Beth flew in to Houston.  We rolled in a few days ago with our Jeep. My niece lives here locally and is going to join us.   We know the way this is going to play out and we're ready and better prepared than last year; sort of.  A lil twist is there is MAGA group coming in as well with the...

Steel Horse Rally V

Donnie had told me about this last year... he'd rolled up there, but I was thinking "I'm going to BBBQ . .why would I go there?"   Simple.  Because you can! What's the diff?  Well, one is May other is Sep.  One is a 30 or 40k folks.... other is 300 or 400k folks.  One is 250 miles each way, other is over 300 miles away.  And....   hell .. why not both!? I'd been planning on rolling up on Double V' since Krome was out in FL in the shop, but I'd managed to break away a few days earlier to grab my main Iron Steed.  Mama's health wasn't 100% so I was rolling in alone.  It's amazing how much you do NOT have to pack for a two day trip, just 250 miles away.  ONLY things I cared about.. Leather jacket and rain gear!  This was going to be a simple one. Friday morning I decided to head out earlier than normal to beat the weather and it worked.  We've had crazy storms this spring and the day before was no exception...

Krome is Home

Grub Stop in Hattiesburg,  MS Damned .. it's been something like two months without it.  I've made the joke "Chrome won't get you home, but Krome Will!" for years now.  But, that theory just got tested.  The last time it gave up the ghost, it did make it home, before the ECU smoked in my driveway.  This time, a starter gear in the motor gave up some teeth, and it wasn't to be.  On the way back from Daytona we were rerouted to Panama City to get help, which wasn't feasible that morning.  The starter itself wasn't the problem.  As I'd written before, Donnie and Jim had to ride out by themselves and I flew out .   A month later (my bike was in the queue behind another with major issues) I got the call to come pick it up, but it'd take another month before I finally made it back. I tried twice last week to get out there, but had to cancel both times due to some personal issues here at home.  This is when I remember how awesome S...
