LONGRIDER - Gone in the Wind

Image
What seems many moons ago....  a good friend of mine, initially reached out to me.  Via forums and FB, we became connected and our friendship launched.   Looking through FB's PM I find myself reminiscing a lil bit. A few times, Steve reached out to me telling me he would be out in Jefferson City, TX for the Boo' Rally.  If I knew then what I know know, I'd been there in a second.  If I remember right he was volunteering with the event; it'd become a fav' of his.  Back then he did a lot of road trips to Wylie Texas and would reach out to me. Finally, in Sep of '13 he made it out my way. I popped a few cold ones for us, he looked at my garage and shook his head at me (lot of shit in there; we'll leave it at that).  That was the day, our friendship took off.  I'm digging through pics as I type this and sadly, none from that first meeting.  A few days later I'd hook up and head to Eureka Springs to park the RV and attend Bike Blues and B...

Patch Grabbers

Image
Subject starting bugging me again ...  I wrote about this awhile back. 'What's on your Back?'  POST A situation a few weeks ago got me to thinking about it again.   I first heard this term with the CVMA.   They do two things to minimize "patch grabbing". First you have to be 'qualified'.  Second, you have to be vetted.  Third, you sign documentation that you'll return the patch if no longer in the CVMA.  I'm sure there are still be that join just to 'look cool' but they soon go by the wayside and only the real stand up folks remain. I belong to the Iron Indian Riders Association and we too many patch grabbers.  What's my definition? Join only because the patch looks cool Just want to join an organization associated with Indian Motorcycles Pay the annual once ... and maybe... maybe.. in following years Never join a chapter Never attend local, regional or national Events I see this all the time.  ...

MN 2019

KROME- Headed North Seven Years in a row.  Eighth summer up there.  Who'd had ever thought that?   The 2012 trip was on a whim, for the opportunity to be on an 'Indian only Ride' which turned out to be disappointment (didn't meet expectations), but a good trip to see family and make some new friends.  The '13 was due to the Indian Demo rides for the new bikes.   The '14 ride up was a good time...   drug my feet of '15 and '16 but as always, have a good time with friends, and I'd made a lot of new ones every summer..  Come ' 17, we had a new purpose and '18 was for an IIRA event.     As usual, I thought each was the 'last time.'.  So why go up in '19? I could easily just say to see friends, but that's not the true reason.  I was headed to Lebanon at the end of this month for an IIRA Gathering event to see many of them, but things changed up a lil two months ago that set things in motion.   As I...

Gregory's Indian 750 ?

Image
What is should have been named!   My last update was about 5 weeks ago, and there there over 350 bikes REGISTERED. Gregory's Indian 500+ July Update Today, that number is well over 500 and we've got 7 weeks to go... it's accelerating!   I'd bet money we have over 750  come 5 October.   Hell, we have reason to believe that that number could approach 1,000 bikes but... if I'm betting money, I'll stick to a sure thing: 750 When this started, I knew they could get 350 but it'd be a LOT of work. What I didn't see was the possibility of 2 to 3 times that number.   Wow! Still, not everything is simple.   Due to some inconsistency that occurred back in '16 and '17, they are having to really dot the "i"s and cross the 't's   A LOT of paperwork verification to validate the total number.  Lets just say, he won't be rolling any bikes off the dealership floor to bump up the total as happened up in MN.  Of course, he...
