Dive Trip - Spring 2020
Just locked in another AirBnB home on the island of Cozumel a few months from now. Looking forward to diving with Julio and crew, with my family and friends.
I've blogged about this before. First time I stayed on the 'economy' was back in '12 then in '16. I made the mistake of letting someone else run the show, manage the books, pay the bills. In other words, pay for it yourself and you then know where every penny goes. Kicker is, it's crazy affordable if you just do a lil' leg work. Good news is, AirBnB (as well as other similar companies) out there have simplified the process. Now, if you're going to go long term ( month or more) it probably pays to pick up the phone, or use other avenues to secure the best price. But for a single week, which most of us do, AirBnB is the perfect solution. I mean, you can get a 3, 4 or 5 bedroom house/condo for 2k or less. Do that math on that one? I remember someone fucking me over for $1500 for a single room, part of a 3 to 4 bedroom house. Now, I'm securing the property and telling folks ... "Hey ... each person's share is about $300 each" . Three Hundred. A week. You've got a kitchen. Restaurants are walking distance. Get the Picture? Got the Visual? Yeah .. me too.
Man, gotta' tell you I'm really excited about this one. Seems every trip the last few years we change it up. Last month, we hit an all inclusive yet went downtown two of the days, plus the final depart day. Back in January, we did an AirBnB and folks went downtown a few times, and we did most of the meals at our place. After the last two trips, I'd decided the 'perfect' option would be a house/condo in the downtown area mix, so EVERYTHING was walking distance. Well, this latest rental has pulled that off. Hell, we've got room (beds) for 4x the people we've got going down, but the cost vs the layout is nothing short of perfect, "As Is".
So, soon we'll put out on the boat diving with Julio and Ishi. Hitting the downtown bars and restaurants of San Miguel. Hitting the beach bars and sandy shores , beach side. Relaxing poolside at the home, sipping cold ones.
I feel an Epic Mexico trip coming on.
