Farmersville, Tx

Nothing to see here.  Zilch. Nada.  I've driven through it for 25 years, almost snickering ...   seen a gas station ... an overpass...  ..  My highlight was the DQ on the right as I headed to McKinney.  When we were hardcore NASCAR fans pulling an RV to TMS, we'd stop at the Brookshires on the way out of town.   Now in the last few years, I've noticed it building up a lot east of Brookshires, but again .. I just flew on by....

Some close friends of ours moved to Texas from Minnesota a few months back, but live just a notch more than an hour away.  So visiting is no big deal with that distance, but for a dinner outing, we began to look for the 1/2 way point between us...   Turns out Farmersville popped up.  Well, that got us to digging a lil' deeper.  I've always 'thought' it existed on the portion I drove through, but the downtown area/square, is a mile or so north off Hwy 380. We noticed there is a Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurant there, so we hit that last month.  I REALLY liked it. Not a high end joint, almost had a hole in the wall feel, and had a full bar.  They have killer prices on the menu, but the downfall .. for me at least.. their 'top shelf' Tequila is Jose Cuervo Gold.  WTF!?!?   That's friggn' entry level!   Still, they tasted good .. but lord help your headache the following day if you have too many!   Well, yesterday we scoped out another joint ...The Stable.   Nice place, great menu, full bar.  What more could one ask for?  Well, they have a small stage setup so I'm guessing had we shown up a lil later, we'd have gotten  some local talent up there?   Well after a great meal, we wandered out onto the town square, assuming we'd have to call it a night.   I'd jokingly said we needed to find a bar, knowing there weren't any around .....  while standing at the vehicles, I'm looking directly across from us thinking .. 'what is that place?'  .... Bottle and Boards.  Huh?  Two small signs in the windows... couple people in there.  Walk over to get another look and ... SCORE!  Turns out to be a really Chic/Cool lil place that serves some interesting menu items and ...   Full Bar!  We grab a big table and check out the place.. .for the next few hours. We found a TRUE winner; a future go to location for dinner and drinks.

Got to tell you .. I had no idea Farmersville had all this going on the Square.  And, we've just scratched the surface. At least three more places for us to check out. Wood and Time BBQ, Main Street Music Hall and over a few blocks, Charlies Old Fashioned Burgers. Then on the other side of town, a few others like Los Arcos Bar n' Grill. And if nothing else, we've discovered some places for stops on motorcycle rides in the near future.

Farmersville... who'd of figured?

Gotta love Texas, no one down here is small minded enough to think a type of food is racist.
