Guinness 266 .....

This video of  rare footage  (rare because it quickly disappeared) which was actually promoted to Facebook via funding (ie paid by the promoter),  brought out some interesting comments.  One being the staging of the "rebar", shaking like a leaf.  Can you imagine, if we'd seen the real deal?  Well of course not, guessing it wasn't possible.  Maybe with these instructions, we'll get a remake?

All humor aside, one thing came up yesterday in the wake of the above video , even after it was removed from various pages and groups on FB. In one conversation on a person's page where folks were calling the video 'childish' it was pointed out, someone else was going to go after the record.  What record?  The most Indian Motorcycles in a parade.  Before last year, that record didn't exist.  If memory serves me correctly, the minimum needed was 250 to set a baseline.  That was barely surpassed at 265.  Now 265 isn't that many.   I mean IMRG has had about 200 plus on a long ride, multiple times.  Since '02, the Iron Indians had events where they had that many bikes in attendance.  I doubt anyone truly cared about bragging about a specific number and establishing a 'record.'  Apparently until last year, no one thought to make a call to make it 'official.'.  So, in a calculated exhibition of chest beating, the decision was made to set a WORLD RECORD!  The target last year was 500; that was apparent by the event's name.  This year, the event's target is more than 500 ( per the events name) , but it appears to be about 20%  behind last years registration rate so there is a high probability it won't even reach 266.

R&R MC
I personally don't care.  I know, you're thinking " Why the F*** am I reading about it then?" Well, hang with me damned it! I rolled in last year at the last minute after being the recipient of frantic texts to make it there; no doubt others were getting those texts.  Rain had popped up and threatened to ruin the event.  Me, I was waiting until the last minute which worked well since I stayed dry, in the big picture. My hotel room was less than a mile away.  Hey, this stuff is important!    Either way, the ride in my opinion turned out to be somewhat of a joke.  The minimum distance is something like 4.5 miles and that's what was accomplished.  Really?   We must have had two dozen road guards (I was nominated!  Got to dress up in Green!). Well, in all fairness I guess it was a 'parade' and not a 'ride' per se'.   The best part? On your own dime as a contributing member you could purchase a certificate with this grand achievement.  I'll pass thank you very much.  I've been on 75-100 mile Toy Runs with thousands of motorcycles.  A quick 4.5 with 266?  I don't have room for that piece of paper in my Man Hangar.

Okay, you stuck with me this far.  Here's the kicker and the point of this post!  Well, when someone sets the bar, it is there to be raised.  That conversation I mentioned yesterday?  Another group is setting their sights on surpassing that 266 or whatever it becomes later this month;  guessing that target will be the same or barely higher.  Definitely not 501 or more.   I have no plans to attend the ride to break the record, but I do think it's a good idea.   Isn't that the whole point of competition?   Kicker is,  after reading that conversation I believe they'll easily do 300 plus.  The icing on the cake is, there won't be any costs involved, no forced purchase of Tee Shirts, no .. well... anything over and above.  Just the opportunity for folks to participate specifically to raise the bar.  And human nature is, they'll roll in to do it. Kicker is, deep down I wonder if " The Video" brought some of this about.  Wouldn't that make one, scratch their head?

Wonder what it'll be called.. ..  The Guinea 267?

Somebody made a comment about "so much for the 266 blog ... we have 279" ..

Now, last year, on this EXACT date.. there were 335 registrations. Does no one read the fine print? This shit is funny

NOW... to be clear... I hope all the folks that roll in and paid to get a participation trophy .. qualify for one. But if one contrasts this all to last year, registrations are currently about 20% behind.

READ the BLOG.. if you are going to reference it.. JS :)

""281 ... So much for that 266 Blog .. Dumb ""

For the umpteenth time... 281 is LESS about 20% less registrations than this same time last year. Is everyone to fucking stupid to understand? LMAO

I HOPE all 281 show up and the bar is raised. BUT, last year the number registered was over 300 by this time.. (335 to be exact) .. which part is confusing??

"Any idea what percentage is new from last year?"

Lot smaller percentage than one would want to advertise, no doubt. In a perfect world, 335 would have been the starting point, plus newbies. Guessing that would be over 501. Wait.. "501" ... now that's funny .... assuming you see the humor

Sheep Sarcasm - " I thought every charity event was 100% put on & funded for free ........." blah, blah, blah

Response : Of course there is overhead .. SMH. For anyone that actually followed this drama from DAY ONE .. the question by ME was asked .. "how much overhead?" After Shirts, celebrities, food, bike giveaways, etc, etc, etc> If you're going to brag how much TOTAL was raised .. why not brag about much was given to charity. So, for the umpteenth time.. what ratio of what is raised, goes to ... 'the kids?" .. 1%? 10%? 20% .. or? The answer has NEVER been given to the public

Anyone ever considered just riding with their buddies and cutting a check to a great charity that doesn't waste your funds? Or at least, one that is honest about where ALL the funds go? Just a thought....
